This deviantART site is truly a wonder to behold. If someone wants to show off their art, or improve through other's critique, how does one go about doing it? You post your art, and someone gives you feedback.

Thing is, how is a noob, or even still, an unpopular person such as myself, supposed to get these kinds of comments? As soon as you post your art, it is pushed aside by the continuous flow of newer, and usually lesser, art. No offense.

This happened to me just now, as I posted my newest page of Rock Band. I couldn't even find it through five pages of the newest deviations. And I was constantly looking at thumbs of the same pictures, as they were pushed further and further from the front page.

"You must give to recieve," of course, this is necessary. Then again, why take a critique from someone who you might think isn't as good as you? Mostly, you get, "That looks cool!" or something along those lines. And I'm sort of tired of that. I'd rather someone tell me I draw and color like shit, because it's true, and then tell me why so I won't make the mistake again.

Same thing with writings on this site, except it's even worse. But I won't rant on that. Instead, you can read ~q365's most recent and final journal entry for a solution.

A large majority of this site is not populated by people I would call 'artists.' It seems most are like the potheads in my art class that took the class for an easy grade they don't care about anyway, thereby taking away a spot a real artist could've taken.

In a way, deviantART is like my art class, except that the class can grow to an infinite size (due to multiple accounts and such). How can the teachers, in essence, the masters, help every single one of them? It's impossible.

So what's my point? This site has gotten way too big. It's ridiculous. So then what is the purpose of this site? I've heard it called a "popularity contest" before, and that's partly correct, I think. But there's also ignorance. I've been on this site for years (three, I think), and I still haven't found alot of artist's whose skills I respect, and fewer who I respect as people. I know there are probably tons more, but how am I to sift through mediocore art to find those rare gems?

I think any site like this (sheezyart, for example, which I did have an account in for a time) is doomed to fail, because of the obliviousness of its participants. And it truly is a shame.

The only solution (if it can be called that) I see is to find a site for one's own usage, and anyone who cares to look and likes what they see will stay and delight in your arts. But in a way, that would make the entire internet like deviantART, a giant sea of ignorance. Still, self promotion through forums and the like leading to one's own site feels much better to me than it does to linking to deviantART.

I am not leaving, however. I will continue to post here, and find new arts with which to draw inspiration and guidance from. Maybe some people might even find my work 'okay.' But I will try to find a site of my own, one that's preferably free, one that's not a wiki (Heh, I already have one of those), where I can start over again.

Wow. What a ramble. I don't think I made more than two critical points in that entire entry. I really need to think these things through.

I don't know if you know this or not, but someone in the world hates you right at this very moment. Not me, necessarily, but someone, somewhere. I realized today after getting into a conversation with one of my peers, and reflecting on a earlier conversation. One might say, "Duh," to me, but I guess I never really thought about it before.

I don't know if you know this or not, but fan art is friggin' tough to draw. For me, anyway. It must be because I want it to look as good, if not better, than the orginal art it's based off of. But since I lack anything beyond what can be described as 'raw talent' in pretty much any artistical field, you can take that whichever way you want.

I don't know if you know this or not, but the DETHALBUM is coming out tomorrow. "There is no escape from death, your life is just a Murder Train A' Comin'. Now play me those blues!" Dethklok writes some of the most insightful lyrics ever. Hah. That's like my favorite Dethklok song.

Ah, depressing! On a less depressing note, but still a note none-the-less, I got JAM SESSIONS. What fun.

I borrowed Super Paper Mario for a couple days... got to Chapter 5-4 before I had to return it... bastard... it's an okay game, but there's no character interaction... (Tippi's almost an interesting character, but she's no Goombella. Nor do these lame Pixls replace the old party members...) On to the main event:

Well, some stuff happened, but my work resolve has never been stronger. In fact, I've never wanted to work harder in my life.

In case you wanted to know what I'm planning, here's a little thing I threw together... it's rough, but the basic concept is all there:

"Cleveland struggles to remember who he is and why he is in Hell. As he fights through the 13 levels of Hell, he slowly uncovers the truth about his fall from Heaven and the twisted powers that forced him down in the first place."

Yes, reading over it, it sounds horrible and trite. But I like it. And it's much shorter than previous attempts at a good story... about 15 chapters, I'm aiming for.

I'm actually going through the major writing stages before actually getting to the drawing phase... even though the first four pages are pretty much done.

The working title, if you care to hear it, is "Heaven and Hell." Please be gentle.

Damn. Lucian's Alakazam is still faster than my Lv. 90 Torterra.

Before I delve into the issues this journal will delve into, does anyone have a Slowpoke/Slowbro/Slowking (which I can breed to make the others), Lickitung, Tangela, Kangaskhan, Jynx, Electabuzz, Magmar, Tauros, Lapras, and/or Mew? Thems are all I need to complete my Kanto Pokedex. Seriously. I got tons of stuff to trade... what chu' need, eh? I am also seriously wanting a Spinarak...

Now to the less important issues. I'll probably uploading more since it is summertime, and I'll be bored as anything. I'll also be writing more poetry, but that stuff doesn't get uploaded.

Alright, my Metang evolved into Metagross... sweet. It wants to learn Hammer Arm...

I'll probably write some more of The Story tonight, and upload Chapter 4, too. Because I'm cool like that. But future updates concerning that will be sparse and at random intervals.

Speaking of other things, does anyone know when JAM SESSIONS for the DS comes out? Hopefully before the 29th... but whenever is good. That and Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s
are the two things I'm really looking forward to.

Seriously. I really want Jam Sessions.

So I guess that's it. My summer seems so far to be completely devoid of any major fun things... except PFEW, Rush concert, OzzFest, yaddayadda. Summer is kind of boring.
